What if Nibiru was not a planet? What if it was instead a large asteroid, comet, or even a small black hole? At this point in the article, it is very unlikely that Nibiru is an ordinary planet much larger than Pluto, so other possibilities must be explored.
A large asteroid or comet could make for a good case as to explain why telescopes all over the world have yet to detect the existence of Nibiru, which would currently be located just outside the orbit of Saturn. However, at that size, Nibiru would have to impact Earth to do any damage. And an asteroid or comet impact is no more likely to occur on December 21st, 2012, then today.
As unrealistic as a black hole sounds, it could explain how a massive gravitational body is approaching Earth undetected. Black holes are only detected when they consume matter and release radiation, or by gravitational lensing. A small black hole drifting through the void of empty space would be nearly impossible detect. So maybe a black hole is silently sweeping through our solar system headed our way? The problem with this assumption is black holes are very massive. Perturbations would have already began to occur in our solar system if a black hole was indeed already inside of it. Black holes are created when stars more massive than our Sun collapses into themselves, so the existence of "small black hole" with a mass on the order of "Earth masses" is highly unlikely. A gravitational body as massive as our Sun would have began to wreak havoc on our solar system long before it entered it. And because our solar system is still in fine order, there is no way a black hole sweeping through our solar system right now.
Summary of Nibiru: It is currently located around the orbit of Saturn. If it is a planet, as of January 2009, its physical size is less than two Earth radii. It likely much smaller since telescopes all over the world have yet to detect its presence. As time goes on, the theoretical physical size and mass will continue to decrease. Gravitational perturbations causes on other planets such as Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn have not been seen, but these would only occur if they entered Nibiru's sphere of influence, which it is possible that none of them ever did. All of this does not mean Nibiru does not exist, as it may be a very small object yet to be detected, but if this is indeed the case the overall likely hood of Nibiru causing an apocalypse on December 21st, 2012, is near zero. The overall take of planet Nibiru and it's existence is...
